The even highlights the many different cultures that co-exist in Chicago area by presenting “80 holiday trees from around the world,” as well as music by various heritage groups.
Days of Czech Cuisine in Boho
November 23rd to 25th, 2014 – CCC supported the presentation of contemporary Czech cuisine by chefs from the Czech Republic.
The event was in BoHo restaurant on 11 W. Illinois, Chicago. Czech wine and beer were served.
Luncheon with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic
November 21st, 2014 – CCC directors participated in the lunch hosted by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Boho restaurant.
A Celebration of 25th anniversary of Velvet Revolution
November 20th, 2014 – CCC supported the reception presenting the Speaker of Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Jan Hamacek and Minister of Culture, Daniel Herman.
A Celebration of Freedom – 25 Years of Democracy in the Czech republic, Washington D.C.
November 17th to 20th, 2014 – CCC Directors and friends traveled to Washington D.C. for the three day celebration.
Events included Concert of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra at the Washington National Cathedral, Lion & Eagle Symposium at the The Atlantic Council, Gala Dinner, Conference: Vaclav Havel’s Legacy Today at Library of Congress, Thomas Jefferson Building, Unveiling and Dedication of the Vaclav Havel Bust in the U.S. Capitol, Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Velvet Revolution at the Embassy of the Czech Republic. We were proud to participate and co-sponsor these events.
Dinner at BoHo
November 8th, 2014 – CCC and friends met at the new, modern, and Czech inspired downtown restaurant for a social dinner.
Holiday Boutique at the Woman’s Athletic Club
November 4th to 6th, 2014 – CCC sponsored a table for the Czech community to organize a sale presenting Czech Republic.
Czech Christmas ornaments, Garnet jewelry, home made honey, and home made cookies were the highlights.

November 1st, 2014 – CCC directors supported the Domazlicka Dudacka Muzika.
This was an interpretation of the distinctive music of the Chodsko region of Western Bohemia. Event was presented at the Klas restaurant.

November 1st, 2014 – CCC directors, members, and friends met for a Czech meal in the historical Klas Restaurant.

50th Chicago International Film Festival
October 9th to 23rd, 2014 – CCC supported attendance of the Czech movie presentations
“Fair Play” directed by Andrea Sedlackova presents the dangerous entanglement of ideology and sports in times of oppression.
“In Silence” directed by Zdenek Jirasky is a story about Holocaust tale and artistic expression under horrific circumstances.
“Into the Clouds We Gaze” directed by Martin Dusek follows a surreal world of Rada’s (young man’s) life.
October 4th and 5th, 2014 – CCC participated in an annual Cicero Houby festival
Many organizations in the area participate in this festival. For example, CCC directors helped cook and serve at the Klas Restaurant station, where was also a concert of Druha Trava.
Chicago Czech Center Official Opening Dinner
October 3rd, 2014 – Chicago Czech Center celebrated official opening.
Over 200 guests the event at the spacious city-view offices of DIRTT Environmental Solutions/Chicago. The individual perimeter environments allowed for various presentations by Czech-American organizations. For example, FACETS multimedia held a viewing of Czech movies, Bohemian Lawyers Association presented the scholarships and trips offered by their organization, American Friends of Czech Republic highlighted their achievements with a slide show presentation, and T.G. Masaryk School set up a mock classroom. In addition, American Sokol presented the Czech and American flags, United Moravian Societies presented kroje, and Theatre Bohemia entertained guests with actors dressed as President T.G. Masaryk, president W. Wilson, and scholar J. A. Komensky mixing in with the crowd.
John Pellouchoud, CCC director and its treasurer, served as the master of ceremonies. John spoke about CCC’s mission and goals, stressing that CCC is a non-profit service organization with a mission to support the Czech community, its organizations and individuals, as well as to introduce Czech Republic’s rich offerings to American public. CCC is also tasked to create a bridge between the US and Czech Republic to bring people and professionals from various fields together. John also addressed the CCC decision to invest its resources into quality programing rather than into a physical space. He explained that due to CCC’s unique position in Chicago area, CCC has access to multiple event venues, thus allowing it to sidestep the outlay and maintenance associated with a permanent physical plant. CCC’s home is virtual and its front door isthe web site, www.chicagoczechcenter.org. Next, John introduced the Czech Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency, Mr. Peter Gandalovic, who spoke about his feeling “humble to meet with so many people with Czech heritage in United States.” He spoke about the many existing Czech organizations, which have opened schools, provided stewardship over cemeteries, and served the many needs of the Czech community in the US. He spoke about the importance of witnessing the founding of the new CCC organization. He expressed his belief that “this organization will serve its purpose; will find its clientele, be meaningful, and serve the community. Thank you to CCC for your service. I am surprised how many Czech Americans gather here tonight, and I see it as proof for such a need to have CCC. Thank you to CCC’s board.” Then Ambassador Gandalovic introduced the new Chicago Czech Consul General, Borek Lizec, who “will be the point person in Chicago area.” As a concluding point of the Ambassador’s speech, members of the CCC’s executive committee of the board of directors were each presented with the official challenge coin of the Embassy of the Czech Republic. Next, CCC’s president, Marek Kutek, welcomed all distinguish guests, and introduced the Czech-American partnering organizations present during the evening.
Another highlight of the evening were several performances by Jana Hurdesova a popular Chicago-based Czech vocalist, accompanied by guitarist, Jiri Cafourek, as well as Peter Herz trio. The evening concluded with the musical mixing of DJ Kido.
75th Anniversary Celebration of United Moravian Societies
September 20th to 21st, 2014 – CCC sponsored and participated in this important historic event.
The purpose of UMS dances is to preserve traditions and show our future generations the music, dancing and culture of their ancestors. During this weekend festival guests listen and sing-along to beautiful songs of the heartland. Many enjoyed the energetic rhythms of polkas and such from dancers of all ages. Traditional food & bakery and imported Czech beer were served.
The John Marshall Law School – The crisis EU Economic lecture
September 9th, 2014 – CCC Directors supported the attendance of the lecture by professor Michal Tomasek.
Professor Tomasek is currently a part of the faculty of Law at the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. He specializes in European Community law and Asian law. The lecture focused on European monetary system and its impact on the future of the European Union
Theatre Bohemia – Children’s Day
June 1st, 2014 – CCC sponsored this wonderful family outing.
Families and their children had a chance to participate in olympic games, to view fairy tale “O Paleckovi,” and to dance to DJ Kiddo’s music.
CCACC’s The 2nd Annual Wine Tasting
May 17th, 2014 – The CCC Board sponsored the Chicagoland Czech-American Community Center Taste of Czech Culture
The CCACC is located in Berwyn area, where the organization brings together the Czech community for various events to keep the Czech heritage alive. The annual wine tasting introduces Czech wines to its community.
Historic Chicago Bungalow Association
May 1st, 2014 – The CCC Board supported the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association honoring Mayor Rahm Emanuel
Many Czech families lived and continue to live in classic Chicago bungalows that provide its residents with comfortable urban life. The organization, Chicagobungalow.org, focuses on the preservation of bungalows and their surrounding neighborhoods.
March 15th, 2014 – The CCC Board sponsored an outing at the Hubbard Street Dance Company.
The Hubbard Street Dance Company performed four works of Jiri Kylian, one of the most influential choreographers of contemporary dance. The CCC Board organized a group of Czech and American viewers to attend the performance on March 15th.
FACETS Multimedia and Jan Nemec retrospective
March 14th, 2014 – The CCC Board sponsored and participated in the first full-career retrospective of Czech director, Jan Nemec, in North America.
“Jan Nemec was an instrumental player in the famed Czechoslovak New Wave, alongside Milos Forman, Jiri Menzel, Vera Chytilova, and others.”
March 8th, 2014 – The CCC Board financially supported the “2. Divadelni Ples” of Divadlo Bohemia.
The CCC Board attended the unique ball. We are proud of our Czech-Chicago community.
